My name is Noo Saro-Wiwa. I’m an author, traveller, humourist, thinker, disciplined grammarian, occasional contrarian, and master and commander of this small corner of cyberspace. I believe that depth can be found in the shallows, and comedy in tragedy.
The Slow Release is my new blog.
My book Looking for Transwonderland: Travels in Nigeria (Granta) was BBC Radio 4’s Book of the Week in 2012 and The Sunday Times Travel Book of the Year in 2012. It was shortlisted for the Author’s Club Dolman Travel Book of the Year Award in 2013, and it won Italy’s Albatros Travel Literature Prize in 2016. It has been translated into French and Italian.
I have also contributed book reviews, travel, opinion and analysis to The Guardian, The Times Literary Supplement, The Financial Times and Prospect magazine, among others.
